ELT in the era of digital technology has brought significant changes to the language learning interaction andteaching especially in the use and the development of materials. The internet is the biggest information data basewhich provides opportunities for EFL teachers to be used in the learning activities. Grounded in a microethnograpicparticipatory action research, this study explored the internet as the potential source of materials foreffective, interesting, and flexible learning. This research involved both teacher and student as the participantswho worked together in a small group and context to explore the internet as the corpus of languagematerials/resources. The research informed a design for the development of the internet-based materials as theresults of the meaning making process that involved a series of activities starting from the materials search, selection, development, and the use in the EFL classrooms. The activities brought contribution to the student’sparticipation, engagement, and cognition as they were directly exposed to a micro-reality context of languagelearning and material development. This study suggests that every student is an important agent of learningwhose voices and inputs are the significant factors determining the success of the language materialdevelopment.
