Abstract

This research was aimed at finding out the efficacy of Jigsaw Strategy in teaching Structure section of TOEFLTest to Indonesian EFL students. This research was conducted at the second semester of Civil Engineering studentsdepartment, study program Perancangan Bangunan Gedung of State Polytechnic of Ujung Pandang (PNUP Makassar).The strategy was choosen because theoretically, the learning in the classroom would be more productive and meaningfulsince it could increase the effectiveness of the students’ learning in the classroom.The method used in this research is a classroom action research. There are 20 students were elected purposivelyas the subjects of the research. The procedures in applying the action consist of 2 cycles with 4 components for eachcycle they are; planning, conducting action, observation, and reflection.The finding shows jigsaw model is able to improve the students’ achievement in structure learning of the Toeflsection. There is a significant increasing of the result of structure learning by the the students. The result in cycle 1 showsthat there are 12 students who got score under the score of 75 where 75 is the minimum standard score and the average scoreis 66,50. The cycle 2 shows that there is an increasing at the average score becomes 77,25. It means that the students’achievement using Jigsaw learning model increase 10,75 %.
