PENGEMBANGAN DESAIN PENGERING VAKUM DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN NOZEL INJECTOR
Abstract
The present study evaluated the energy efficiency and drying time of a vacuum dryer. This novel vacuum dryer is the initial design which is being developed. The drying process experiment was carried out at temperature ranging from 60 to 65 0C, while vacuum pressure ranging from 97.0 to 97.2 kPa. The drying process applied for solid materials e.g. cocoa and coffee beans where its moisture ranging from 27 to 35 %. It was found that energy efficiency by using the vacuum dryer was lower 5 % and the drying time tend to be faster 1 hour than using dryer with atmosphere pressure. Efficient use of energy and drying time are not optimal. It may be caused by the condition of the achievement of pressure in the chamber is still relatively high, so it still needs to develop particularly the design on the injector nozzles. In addition, there is still a lot of heat lost to the surroundings where this occurs, possibly due to improper thermal insulation.References
