PEMASANGAN INSTALASI PENERANGAN JALAN UMUM TENAGA SURYA DI LINGKUNGAN MASJID MARYAM BINTI IMRAN BTP BLOK AF KOTA MAKASSAR
Abstract
Politeknik Negeri Ujung Pandang (PNUP) has once again demonstrated its commitment to implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education through a community service program involving the installation of Solar-Powered Street Lighting (PJU). This program was conducted at Maryam Binti Imran Mosque, BTP Block AF Complex, Katimbang Village, Biringkanaya District, Makassar City, during July–October 2025. The mosque often serves as a shelter for residents during floods, but electricity from PLN must be cut off for safety reasons, leaving the area in darkness and increasing security risks. To address this issue, a team of lecturers and students from the Electrical Engineering Department of PNUP installed eight units of solar-powered street lights. The program stages included site surveys, technical planning, installation of poles and solar modules, energy-efficient LED lamp installation, system testing, and basic maintenance training for the community. The results showed that all units functioned optimally and provided tangible benefits, particularly during blackouts. This program not only improved comfort and safety but also introduced renewable energy technology into daily community life. This initiative fosters community awareness of renewable energy and supports long-term sustainable development goals in disaster-prone areas.Downloads
