ANALISA PEMANFAATAN POTENSI SUHU AIR LAUT DAN SEBAGAI SUMBER ENERGI TERBARUKAN MENGHASILKAN ENERGI LISTRIK

Abstract

Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) power-plant system can be classified into three types, those are opencycle, closed cycle, and hybrid cycle. OTEC close cycle consists of some components, such as evaporator, condenser,turbine, pump and electric generator. Generally, the working fluid used in this system is ammonia that has boilingtemperature around -33,18oC which is considerably low compared to water 100oC at 1 atm. Ammonia will undergoevaporating process because the heat transfer occurs between ammonia and warm seawater with temperature around26-32oC.In condenser ammonia will be condensed into saturated liquid due to the heat transfer with cold seawater attemperature around 4-8oC. Ammonia then will be pumped into evaporator and the cycle is repeated. The result ofthis research shows that ammonia as working fluid to be applied on OTEC power plant closed cycle. At design withthe temperature cold seawater out from condenser 6,25oC, it produces the net power 0,7 MW at ratio between warmseawater and cold seawater mass flow rate 0,5, with value of warm seawater mass flow rate 250 kg/s and coldseawater mass flow rate 500 kg/s.
