EVALUASI KANDUNGAN KLORIDA AIR PAYAU TERHADAP KARAKTERISTIK MORTAR DAN POTENSI KOROSI BESI TULANGAN

Abstract

The objective of this research is to investigate the influence brackish water as mixing water on characteristics of mortarand potential corrosion of reinforcement steel bars. Research was conducted in several stages, firstly, evaluating resultsof chloride compound that it was observed in two seasons, dry season and rainy season. Then, data of brackish watersamples were analyzed to predict potential corrosion of steel bars. Secondly, characteristics of fine aggregate andcharacteristics of PCC cement paste using brackish water were investigated. Finally, cube mortar specimens were castedusing brackish water as mixing and curing water according with SNI 03-6825-2002 standards. After achievement atcertain day of 3, 7, 14 and 28 days, cube mortar samples were tested in compressive strength. Results concluded thatbrackish water improves compressive strength of mortar up to 28 days and the content of chloride in brackish water intwo seasons is not to be potential to cause corrosion of reinforcement steel bars.
