Abstract

The condition of groundwater in Makassar City is already in a poor condition, because overexploitation has caused adecrease in groundwater level which results in land subsidence, seawater intrusion and deterioration of ground waterquality. To maintain the availability of ground water, efforts can be made to save rainwater for recharging groundwaterby making biopore infiltration holes. The objectives of the science and technology program for the community (IbM) arethat the groundwater crisis that occurred in Parang sub-district Mamajang sub-district of Makassar can be overcome andits long-term target is to encourage the Makassar City Government to make a Perda on obligations for the Makassarpeople to make infiltration holes biopori in his yard, especially new buildings. The method that will be used in thisactivity is in the form of counseling for the community in RW 04, Parang Village, Mamajang District, Makassar Cityabout the dangers of groundwater crisis, how to make biopori infiltration holes and demonstration of making in 1community home. Before counseling and demonstration on how to make a biopori infiltration hole, the level ofknowledge of participants was only 22.22% and increased to 77.8% after counseling and demonstration with a valueabove 6, and a skill level above 60% of the total participants.
