Abstract

Slow Release Fertilizers (SRF) or controlled release fertilizers, has been widely used to overcome the
conventional fertilizers use which are less efficient because the conventional fertilizer generally do not entirely absorbed
into plants. This research aims to make NPK (Nitrogen Potassium Phosfor) SRF (Slow Release Fertilizers) that can
reduce the rate of release of nutrient with the coating and matrix method in a formulatory 13:8:10. The matrix used is a
natural zeolite so its speed can be controlled while the coating method by dip coating using poly acrylic acid (PAA),
additive starch and polyethylene glycol (PEG) 6000 as a template. The dip coating process is done to know the optimal
concentration of starch and PAA. Optimal starch concentration is 5% whereas for PAA is 20%. The Optimal NPK SRF is
done the test incubation applications for 100 days to know the rate of release of NPK SRF compared to granule and
conventional fertilizer, then obtained results that SRF is slower and controlled compared with conventional fertilizers and
granule fertilizers.
