Abstract


One of the performance degradation in retention basin is caused by sedimentation, as is the case with the
Beroangin retention basin in Jeneponto District which was built in 2015, which if no maintenance is carried out, the
service life of the retention basin will continue to decrease and will not function properly. Sedimentation rate is
influenced by the condition of the retention basin catchment area including: rainfall, slope, soil type and land cover by
analysis of the USLE method and direct measurements. The retention basin sedimentation rate with the USLE method is
492.34 m3/yr and direct measurement is 435.38 m3/yr Therefore the retention basin service life is based on the USLE
method after the retention basin has been operating for three years with an initial dead storage volume of 1307.49 m3, so
the sedimentation in the weir pond has covered the intake or predicted its useful life is only around 2.65 years. Direct
measurement results obtained the remaining volume of dead storage is 1.33 m3, the remaining service life of Beroangin
retention basin is around 0.0031 years.
