AKTIVASI ADSORBEN DARI RUMPUT LAUT SARGASSUM sp MENGGUNAKAN ASAM KLORIDA
Abstract
One of those pollutants which contaminate the water is heavy metal. Some of the metal ion is a pretty dangerous waterpolluters are Cd, Pb, Zn, Hg, Cu and Fe. Various attempts have been made to address the problem of the pollution ofheavy metals, among others by making use of seaweed as adsorbent. This research aims to improve the capacity of theseaweed sargassum sp to absorb metal ion with chemical activation. Research includes several stages, namelypreparation of adsorbents, preparation of heavy metal waste, adsorbents activation with the hydrochloric acidconcentrations varied 0.1; 0.2; 0.3; and 0.4 N, optimization of time contact between adsorbent and waste varied 15, 30,45, 60, and 75 minutes, and the optimization of the adsorbent's weight varied 0.1; 0.5; 1; 1.5; and 1.85 g. This researchis done in batches by measuring the concentration of heavy metals before and after the adsorption of so knownquantities of heavy metals that can be diadsorpsi by the adsorbent by using atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS).Adsorption capacity of adsorbent improvement after activated will also be known by the way comparing with adsorbentwhich has not been activated. Adsorption capacity of sargassum sp the activated or not activated is not much different inabsorbing Pb ion. Optimum contact time is obtained at the time of 45 minutes with optimum weight 0.5 grams ofsargassum sp with Pb absorbed 99.74%.References
