Peer Review Process

Every article submitted to the Journal of Business Administration (JBA) undergoes a review process. Therefore, before entering the review stage, authors must fulfill all the requirements stated in the author guidelines.

First, incoming articles will be handled by an editor assigned by the Editor-in-Chief. The editor’s responsibilities are to ensure that the submission is free from plagiarism and that it conforms to JBA’s formatting template. If the submission fails to meet either of these two criteria, the article will be rejected. Conversely, if the article meets the requirements, the editor will assign an external reviewer for further evaluation. The article will be sent to the reviewer anonymously, so the reviewer will not know the identity of the author. Briefly, every submission will undergo a single-blind review process.

Based on the comments and evaluation provided by the reviewer, the Editor-in-Chief will make the final decision on whether the article will be accepted or rejected.

Specifically, the types of decisions that may be made by a reviewer are:

  • Decline Submission: This decision means the submitted article cannot proceed due to failure to meet JBA's requirements, along with reviewer recommendations indicating the article is not suitable for publication due to not fulfilling scientific standards.

  • Accepted: This decision means the article can be published directly in JBA.

  • Resubmission: This decision indicates that a major revision is needed. The author must revise the article content based on the reviewer’s suggestions and then resubmit it.

  • Revision Required: This decision means minor revisions are needed. The author must make the necessary changes as suggested by the reviewer and resubmit the article within a specified timeframe.

Once the reviewer has recommended that the article be accepted, the Editor-in-Chief will notify the author that their article has been accepted and will be published in the JBA system.
