Abstract


The purpose of this study was to increase the English Presentation Competence (EPC) of Polytechnic students
by developing a model of instruction. The method used was Research and Development (R&D) which consists of ten
steps. The results were analyzed quantitatively by using t- test with varian analisis (ANOVA) to measure achievement. It
is concluded that the instruction model of Relevant Content Area Basic Topics increased the English presentation
competence of the students which is indicated by score 7 of IELTS version (good users). Syntax model are orientation to
fulfill requirements, activation by selecting a povourite basic topic based on their field of study to be presented. The
systematic presentation is based on epistemological question-answer: what, what-what, why and how, presentation
session, question and answer session, and evaluation. Qualitative analysis indicated that this model is characterized by
such as: interactive, holistic, integrated, thematic, effective.
