Abstract

The purpose of this study was to increase the English Presentation Competence (EPC) of Polytechnic studentsby developing a model of instruction. The method used was Research and Development (R&D) which consists of tensteps. The results were analyzed quantitatively by using t- test with varian analisis (ANOVA) to measure achievement. Itis concluded that the instruction model of Relevant Content Area Basic Topics increased the English presentationcompetence of the students which is indicated by score 7 of IELTS version (good users). Syntax model are orientation tofulfill requirements, activation by selecting a povourite basic topic based on their field of study to be presented. Thesystematic presentation is based on epistemological question-answer: what, what-what, why and how, presentationsession, question and answer session, and evaluation. Qualitative analysis indicated that this model is characterized bysuch as: interactive, holistic, integrated, thematic, effective.
