MAKNA BADIK PADA REMAJA DI KABUPATEN GOWA

Abstract

Indigenous Psychology is one of the studies that is currently very trendy among academics, especially in the
field of Psychology. The purpose of this study was to determine the meaning of badik in adolescents who like to bring
badik in Gowa district. This study uses qualitative methods with a phenomenological approach. This qualitative method
is carried out because this research has certain characteristics and is expected to be able to explore deeply the meaning of
Badik in adolescents who like to bring badik, with a sample of five subjects in this study. Data collection was obtained
through observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this study indicate the meaning of badik in adolescents
carrying badik in Gowa Badik Regency as a tool to increase the subject's self-confidence and self-esteem. Because badik
according to the subject is a tool that can be used to maintain and protect self-esteem (siri). This knowledge is obtained
from the subject family and subject friends. Badik is also understood as a historical or cultural heritage, so badik is
considered to have a certain aura that can affect the character of the badik carrier. It is expected that the subject will
better understand the true meaning of badik in the subject, so that their confidence does not depend on badik. The
government is also expected to formulate individual and community development programs using a local wisdom-based
approach, so that there is synergy between the government and the culture that is guided by the community.
