KESANTUNAN BERBAHASA DI LINGKUNGAN TERMINAL

Abstract


This study aims to describe the politeness of the language used by brokers, street vendors, drivers and
conductors located in the Sungguminasa terminal area of Gowa Regency. The type of research is descriptive qualitative.
The data in this study is the speech of brokers, street vendors, drivers, and conductors that contain harsh words. The
techniques used in data collection are observation and interviews. The research instruments are (1) data classification
guide format, (2) field note guidance format consisting of (a) descriptive field notes and (b) reflective field notes, (3)
interview guide format, (4) data analysis guide format, and (5) recording device and stationery. The data analysis
techniques are interactive models which include these stages: (1) data collection (2) data reduction, (3) data presentation,
and (4) verification and conclusions. The results of the study show that irregularities in the principle of politeness
deviations in the principle of politeness spoken by brokers, street vendors, drivers and most conductors are in the maxims
of wisdom
