ANALISIS KANDUNGAN DAN AKTIVITAS ANTIOKSIDAN PADA RUMPUT LAUT EUCHEUMA COTTONI YANG DIEKSTRAKSI DENGAN PELARUT ETANOL

Abstract


Antioxidant have been extracted from the seaweed Eucheuma cottoni species by applied the maceration method,
the seaweed fresh are washed and cutting and then macerate in the beaker glass with the ethanol as a solvent. The ethanol
solvent prepares in three different concentrated, that are 55%, 75%, and 95%. The macerate is kept fixed time at 3 x 24
hour’s (three days) at room temperature. The extract is concentrated with vacuum rotary evaporator, the concentrated
extract that received are analysis for yield recovery, antioxidant activity, and extract composition with GC-MS. The
result showed that the yield extract recovery is 13.95% for the ethanol solvent 55%, 8.71 % for the ethanol solvent of
75%, and 17.06% for the ethanol solvent 0f 95%. While antioxidant activity or IC50 for each concentration solvent extract
are as in a series of 1,179.245 ppm for the ethanol 55%, 1,190.476 ppm for the ethanol 75%, and 4,032.258 ppm the
ethanol 95%. The GC-MS analysis resulted for the ethanol solvent 55% extract is detected there are 40 compounds
composed. From those result can be concluded that the best ethanol concentration for extracted the antioxidant from
seaweed Eucheuma cottoni it was 55%.
