Abstract

Water supply in some part of Indonesia especially in village and remote area still depends on water from naturalsources such as river and well. This water quality can change easily. This research aimed to create adsorbent from naturalmaterial (Moringa seed) which can be easily obtained or grown by people to improve water quality. This research wasconducted in two variations. Firstly, the variation in Moringa seed compositions (25, 30, and 35%) with contact time 3hours, respectively. Secondly, the contact time variation (2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 hours) with Moringa seed compositions 25%.Water quality before and after processing was examined based on metal analysis of Cu and Fe components, pH,conductivity, turbidity and total coliforms. The results indicated that adsorbent with 25% Moringa seed composition wasthe most effective in improving river and well water quality with an optimum contact time 3 hours.
