PEMBUATAN ADSORBEN BERBAHAN AKTIF BIJI KELOR UNTUK PENGOLAHAN AIR

Abstract


Water supply in some part of Indonesia especially in village and remote area still depends on water from natural
sources such as river and well. This water quality can change easily. This research aimed to create adsorbent from natural
material (Moringa seed) which can be easily obtained or grown by people to improve water quality. This research was
conducted in two variations. Firstly, the variation in Moringa seed compositions (25, 30, and 35%) with contact time 3
hours, respectively. Secondly, the contact time variation (2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 hours) with Moringa seed compositions 25%.
Water quality before and after processing was examined based on metal analysis of Cu and Fe components, pH,
conductivity, turbidity and total coliforms. The results indicated that adsorbent with 25% Moringa seed composition was
the most effective in improving river and well water quality with an optimum contact time 3 hours.
