PENGARUH UKURAN ADSORBEN DAN WAKTU ADSORPSI TERHADAP PENURUNAN KADAR COD PADA LIMBAH CAIR TAHU MENGGUNAKAN ARANG AKTIF TEMPURUNG KELAPA

Abstract


Wastewater tofu contains COD is high, it can cause environmental pollution. The objective of this research is to
determine the size of the adsorbent and the contact time of the reduced levels of COD in the effluent out with adsorbtion
process. Manufacture of activated charcoal through physical activation process with temperature 600oC for 2 hours and
then activated using phosporic acid for 2 hours at temperature 25oC. The adsorption process is done by mixing samples
of effluent out with adsorbent with 50 ml of the sample and 5 grams of charcoal with variations in particle sizBe -70
+100, -100 +170, +200 and -170 mesh and adsorption time 10, 30, 50, 70 , 90 and 100 minutes. The best results were
obtained from this research is at -170 +200 sized adsorbent and adsorption time of 90 minutes ie COD levels at 560 ppm
with a 94% reduction .
