Abstract

Improve performance of solar heaters that use solar energy as a source of electrical energy in the calorimeter
system, utilizing solar cell collectors as a means of converting solar heat of electrical energy. The method used in using
the calorimeter as a heater, where the solar cell collector is arranged in series and parallel both directly and indirectly
(AKI). The heating element used is nickel wire material and the inside of the calorimeter is added to the heat sink, so as
to reduce heat transfer of the outer tube of the calorimeter. From the test results obtained the highest average value of Pout
= 148.68 kJ and Qtot = 197 kJ obtained from the series circuitmtesting 10.00 – 11.50 WITA. And obtainedthe highest
average value of system efficiency system ï¨sistem = 6,55% and ï„T = 45.99oC, which was obtained from the series of
circuits of 10.00 – 11.50 WITA. In this study it was proved that the calorimeter using solar energy can heat water with
temperatures reaching 99.6oC. the results of this study can reduce the use non renewable energy and prove the
improvement on heating performance, the temperature can reach 98oC.
