Abstract

This paper presents a study of phenomenon springback that occurs in sheet metal bending processes. Springback
is a sensitive feature in sheet metal forming processes due to the influence of the elasticity of the metal material when the
bending load is removed. The main objective of this study was to analyze the effect of the punch angle and radius on
springback that occurred in the bending process of carbon steel material St. 60. The punch radius and angle are used as
varied parameters. Whereas the bending step, plate thickness, die angle and die radius are constant parameters. Universal
Testing Machine (UTM) is used as a press machine with a constant step speed. The protractor bevel with 5 minutes
accuracy is used for angle measurement. Graphical methods are used to analyze. The springback phenomenon that was
observed was based on variations in the increase in radius and angle of the punch. The findings of this study will be
useful for metal forming industries.
