Abstract

This study aims to determine the suspension characteristics of vehicles that are loaded vertically. Pneumatic
cylinders as actuators will be driven by compressed air and directly overload the vehicle's wheels. Deviations that occur
during compression in Spring and Shock Absorber are substituted into the vehicle dynamic load equation. Experiments
are carried out using pneumatic actuators that replace the real dynamic load of the vehicle. The results show that the
magnitude of the displacement when the compression force works is significantly affected by the vertical dynamic load
of the vehicle which weighs on road construction. From the graph shows that the shock absorbers have a greater ability to
reduce dynamic loads vertically when compared to spring capabilities. The shock absorber is able to reduce the load by
55.85%, so that the vertical dynamic load of the vehicle, FDvk which loads the road structure is equal to, 16204 N.
