Abstract

The research objective was to determine the effect of using fly ash as a partial replacement of cement on the
compressive strength of mortar soaked in seawater and fresh water (PDAM). The benefits of research are: reducing
industrial waste sourced from the remaining burning coal (fly ash). Research procedure: test the composition of fly ash
compounds, chemical compostion seawater, the characteristics of fine aggregates and make a mortar mixture with a
composition of 1 cement PCC: 3 sand. The treatment of mortar mixture is: reduction of PCC cement (replaced with fly
ash): 0%, 20%, 30% and 40%. Next, make a 50 mm x 50 mm x 50 mm mortar test specimen, curing it in sea water and
fresh water and test the mortar compressive strength at the age of 28.60 and 90 days. The results showed the compressive
strength of mortar for treatment in sea water and fresh water, 0% fly ash in the umuur 28.60 and 90 days strength
increase, fly ash 30% 90 days old the highest increase in compressive strength, and fly ash 40% age 90 days there is a
decrease in compressive strength.
