Abstract

Concrete is a mixture of cement, aggregate, water and certain additional ingredients. Making lightweight concretein principle requires cavities in the concrete. Another advantage of lightweight concrete, among others, is that it has agood thermal resistance value, has a good sound resistance (silencer), is fire resistant. While the weakness of lightweightconcrete is the value of compressive strength is smaller than that of normal concrete so it is not recommended forstructural use. The purpose of this study was to determine the compressive strength of concrete using rice husk ash andpaper ash of egg shelves added to the manufacture of lightweight concreteThe method used in this study is an experimental study in the laboratory which includes material testing, manufacture and testing of test objects. Test objects were made by 5 compositions with the percentage of rice husk ashand egg rack paper by 10%, 25%, 55%, 80% and 95% of the weight of the cement while the compressive strength testingwas carried out at ages 7, 14 and 28 days. The results of compressive strength testing showed that rice husk ash and paper ash of egg shelves could be usedas additive material for lightweight concrete for lightweight and non-structural concrete blocks. Addition of rice husk ashand egg rack egg ash as much as 10% and 25% can be used as lightweight concrete material for light structures becausethe compressive strength values are between 7-17 MPa and can be used for the walls to carry loads. Meanwhile, theaddition of rice husk ash and egg rack paper as much as 55%, 80% and 95% can be used for non-structural lightweightconcrete because it has compressive strength values between 3.5 - 7 MPa and can be used for separation walls orisolation walls.
