Abstract

Expansive soil caused the unstable structure. A treatment is needed to improve the soil. One of them is by doing
a stabilization. Stabilization of expansive soil on can use the material added. The goal is lower plasticity index value and
increase the power dukungnya. On the other hand the use of waste in construction has been utilized as a replacement for
conventional materials. The purpose of this study was to optimize the utilization of waste materials as marble sand
stabilization of expansive soil and found a mixed composition of waste land on the expansive marble the most optimal.
Testing is done by analyzing the change of physical properties of expansive soil and mechanical and soil mixture with
the addition of marble-sand variation of 10%, 20%, 30% and 40%. The results obtained are the water levels decrease an
average of 1.93%, heavy kind of rising an average of 0.96 grams/cm3 and plasticity index value has decreased an average
of 12.84%. On the mechanical properties of strong focus was more on the increase of 0.22 kg/cm2-0.63 kg/cm2 (average
of 31.71% each addition 10% sand marble), while on the powerful gesernya undergo a decrease of 0.17-0.27 kg/cm2
kg/cm2 (average of 27.05% each the addition of 10% sand marble). Sand the marble wastes can be used as material for
the stabilization of expansive soils of low, medium and high because of enduring physical properties and had engineer a
better changes.
