Abstract

Laston (Asphalt Concrete Layer) is a product that is resulted from the mixing of coarse aggregate, fine aggregate, filler,
and hard asphalt at a certain temperature then spreads and is crushed at a certain temperature. A distinctive feature of the
AC-Base asphalt mixture is continuous graded aggregate use, and high stability values. In the nickel mining company in
Sorowako, in nickel production system, there is a term known as rejecting, which is a material in the form of stone blocks
that are processed using stone crusher to obtain crushed stone aggregates, namely coarse aggregates (with the size 2/3, ½,
0.5/1) and fine aggregates in the form of sand. This study aims to determine the characteristic value of nickel processed
wastes to meet the requirements of coarse and fine aggregates for road construction material. The method used in this
study is the SNI Method for the examination of aggregate characteristics and Marshall Test Method that aims to
determine the characteristic and performance of AC-Base mixtures. The results showed that the characteristic values of
processed waste of coarse aggregate nickel (BTt split 2/3, ½, 0.5/1) and fine aggregate (stone ash) both met the
requirements of AC-Base mixture according to the specifications of Bina Marga 2010 rev.3 Pro-portion of mixture
obtained AC-Base coarse aggregate (broke stone 2/3)-15.5%, coarse aggregate (broken stone ½)-22.5%, coarse aggregate
(broken stone 0.5/1)-15.0%. The proportion of asphalt content that meets the characteristic of AC-Base mix characteristic
lies between 4.55%-5.70%.
