Abstract

This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to improve the knowledge and skills of construction workers in implementing the Construction Safety Management System (SMKK) for road infrastructure projects in South Sulawesi Province. Despite existing regulations, the low level of SMKK implementation in the field remains a critical issue contributing to the high rate of accidents in the construction sector. The program was delivered through comprehensive, module-based training that covered construction safety regulations, risk management, project communication, and safety documentation. The two-day training was held at Politeknik Negeri Ujung Pandang, featuring experts from the Regional Construction Services Center VI South Sulawesi and K3L lecturers. The training outcomes showed a significant increase in participants’ understanding and practical application of SMKK principles. These improvements were validated through competency tests and certification by TUK Mulia – P3SM. Overall, the program successfully strengthened the safety culture, enhanced workforce professionalism, and fostered collaboration between vocational education institutions and the construction industry. This initiative is expected to contribute positively to reducing accident rates and improving safety standards in South Sulawesi’s construction projects.
