Abstract

Low literacy in Islamic business management and finance remains a major challenge for micro-entrepreneurs in Makassar City, particularly members of the Makassar Micropreneurs Community. Limited understanding of sharia contracts in business transactions reduces their confidence in establishing sharia-based partnerships, while insufficient knowledge of halal products and services negatively affects the professionalism of business management in accordance with Islamic principles. This community service program was designed to enhance sharia-compliant business and financial literacy while strengthening the managerial and spiritual capacities of micro-entrepreneurs. The program employed an educational, participatory, and interactive approach through basic training in Islamic business and finance, introduction to sharia contracts in business transactions, and a business clinic as a platform for discussion and consultation. The results show a significant improvement in participants’ understanding of halal, fair, and transparent sharia-based business practices, as evidenced by an increase in correct responses from 66.7% in the pre-test to 78.8% in the post-test. This improvement increased participants’ confidence in business decision-making and forming halal partnerships, while also strengthening local sharia-based business networks. The program produced national seminar proceedings, popular media articles, and video documentation disseminated via social media, contributing to improved sharia-compliant literacy among MSMEs in Makassar, Indonesia.
