PENERAPAN TEKNOLOGI LUBANG RESAPAN BIOPORI (LRB) SEBAGAI UPAYA PENGENDALIAN BANJIR DI KOTA PAREPARE
Abstract
Flooding is a persistent environmental problem in Parepare City, particularly in densely populated areas with limited drainage systems. One simple yet effective technology to reduce surface runoff is the Biopore Infiltration Hole (BIH), or Lubang Resapan Biopori (LRB). This program is part of research-based Community Service (Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat or PkM) activities with the primary goal of enhancing community capacity while simultaneously reducing flood risk through the application of BIH technology in sub-districts Cappa Galung, district Bacukiki Barat. The implementation method comprises seven stages: Identification and mapping of target areas. Socialization and education. Technical training. Implementation of BIH installation. Formation of environmental cadres. Monitoring and evaluation. Development of policy recommendations. The activity results show that 40 BIH units were successfully installed with specifications of 80–100 cm depth and 10–30 cm diameter. Post-rainfall monitoring indicated that these units were able to reduce pooling by up to 40%. Regarding community capacity, 50 residents were trained, and 20 environmental cadres were established who are actively involved in BIH maintenance and educating other residents. Furthermore, the program produced a guidance module, educational materials, video documentation, and a GIS-based digital map recording the distribution of BIH points. On the policy front, formal recommendations have been submitted to the Parepare City Government to integrate BIH technology into the city's flood control program. This program has not only impacted the reduction of pooling but has also increased environmental awareness, encouraged active community participation, and opened up opportunities for replication in other sub-districts. Thus, the application of BIH technology is proven effective as a community-based strategy for sustainable flood control.Downloads
