Abstract

This study aims to develop a simulator for a heavy equipment starting system to enhance the effectiveness of practical learning in the Heavy Equipment Electrical Systems course. The research methods employed include literature study, field observation, circuit design, component procurement, assembly, and functional testing. The simulator was designed using a 12V starting motor with a no-load rotation capability of 1000 RPM. The key achievement of this research is the successful creation of a fully functional 12 Volt starting system simulator. The test results indicate that the simulator was successfully assembled and tested with performance meeting the specifications, and it is capable of realistically simulating the starting process. The research outputs consist of a physical simulator, a draft of a national journal article, a practical guide jobsheet, and copyright. This simulator is expected to improve students' understanding of the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment starting systems, while also supporting the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) policy through project-based learning.
