Abstract

Cahaya Laundry is a home-based business located in Gowa Regency with significant market potential, as it is situated in a densely populated area near office districts. However, the business faces substantial challenges in the clothes drying process, especially when production volume increases. During the rainy season, laundry volume can rise by up to 50% because customers have difficulty drying clothes at home. In such situations, the management is forced to dry clothes under sunlight when the available electric dryers are insufficient, which is unhygienic and highly dependent on weather conditions. The use of electric dryers is also limited, requiring 2,200 watts of power and resulting in high operational costs. To address these issues, this community service activity aims to design and implement a hybrid clothes dryer system that combines electricity and gas. The hybrid technology is expected to improve energy efficiency, increase service capacity, and meet the operational needs of the business. Targeted outputs include the development of a fully functional hybrid dryer unit, enhanced operational efficiency and service capacity, as well as documentation and publication of results. The implementation of this technology is expected to provide a practical, energy-efficient solution while contributing to the development of sustainable drying technologies for home-based laundry businesses.
