Abstract

The integration of digital information and social media is key to enhancing sustainable tourism through empowering local communities. One village that holds great natural and cultural potential is Nisombalia Village in Maros Regency, South Sulawesi. Nisombalia Village faces challenges in strengthening its potential as a tourist village and in increasing the community's knowledge of the digital world. A team of volunteers, consisting of lecturers and students from the Business Administration Department of Ujung Pandang State Polytechnic, assists and mentors the local community and the maritime youth. The programs conducted include knowledge transfer and social media training. These programs introduce tourism destinations to open up new job opportunities through the identification of tourism spots, such as Kuri Caddi Beach and the Mangrove Forest, and provide social media training on topics like benefits, content design, copywriting, and social media calendars. The local community and maritime youth have found the volunteer program helpful, as it enhances their understanding and skills in using social media Instagram to support local economic development and promote the village as a tourist destination.
