PKM PENGOLAHAN MINYAK JELANTAH MENJADI LILIN AROMATERAPI

Abstract

This PKM program aims to educate the public about the dangers of used cooking oil to health when used repeatedly, train the public to distinguish the quality of used cooking oil based on its physical appearance, educate the public about the dangers of used cooking oil to the environment when disposed of carelessly, train the public to dispose of used cooking oil in the correct way, and train the public to process used cooking oil into candles. This PKM uses interactive lecture methods, demonstrations, discussions, and practices of processing used cooking oil into aromatherapy candles. The Pampang community was enthusiastic in participating about this PKM activity which was marked by questions and answers, discussions, and direct practice by the community. As a result, the community is educated about used cooking oil and skilled in the practice of processing used cooking oil into candles. The candles produced in this activity were tested by the community for application and the result was that the candles could be lit with a stable flame. Residents were very interested in seeing the beautiful color of the candles. Residents also enjoyed the smell of the burning candles that had been mixed with aromatherapy ingredients beforehand.
