RANCANG BANGUN WEBSITE APLIKASI TOEFL
Abstract
The research involves the development of an application for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) to support English language courses in Electrical Engineering and Informatics and Computer Engineering departments. The application replaces the traditional paper-based TOEFL test, allowing for easy administration anywhere, not just limited to classroom and campus. The aim of this research is to design a web-based TOEFL application that display real-time test scores upon completion and record learning history in accordance with the three sections of the TOEFL namely listening comprehension, grammar and written expression, and reading comprehension. The research utilizes PHP and JavaScript for website development, the Laravel framework (version 10.10) for building the application, MySQL as the database management system, and VS Code as the code editor. The research procedure includes a system analysis (problem analysis, system architecture analysis, functional analysis, non-functional analysis, and system requirements analysis) and system design (use case diagrams, activity diagrams, and entity relationship diagrams) aimed at producing a functional TOEFL application. A trial of this website application has been conducted as a pre-test for TOEFL, specifically for first-semester students of Electrical Engineering and Informatics and Computer Engineering departments.
