ESTERFIKASI ASAM LEMAK PALMITAT MENJADI ETIL ESTER MENGGUNAKAN KATALIS PADAT SO4 2-/TiO2
Abstract
This research proposes the synthesis of SO42-/TiO2 heterogeneous catalysts and their application to the manufacture ofbiodiesel from palmitic fatty acid through the esterification chemical reaction pathway using ethanol. This SO42- / TiO2material performs as a super acidic heterogeneous catalyst. This catalyst, has demonstrated its performance in theesterification reaction of palmitic acid into a palmitic acid ester with a conversion of 97.09%. The SO42- / TiO2 materialis a heterogeneous catalyst that can be applied in the processing of biodiesel from raw materials with high free fatty acidcontent. This has an effect on improving the mastery of biodiesel production technology. In addition, the catalystmaterial is environmentally friendly and economical so it can contribute to the increase of national energy security. Theresearch activity begins with catalyst synthesis, followed by applying the catalyst to the esterification chemical reaction. The ester analysis obtained using GC-MS and obtained ester product 97,09%. Analysis of biodiesel properties forviscosity at 40 ° C and density at 15 ° C obtained 2.051 mm2 / s (cSt) and 0.8448 g / cm3.References
