SIMULATOR TURBIN ANGIN UNTUK MEDIA PEMBELAJARAN DI LABORATORIUM PEMBANGKIT DAN PENYALURAN LISTRIK

Abstract


This research aims to improve motivation and interest of students / teaching staff in new and renewable energy
development learning process particularly in wind power conversion system. Wind turbine simulator with Computer PC
and LCD based measuring monitoring can be applied as learning module in electricity generator and distribution
laboratory. Development of new and renewable energy particularly development of wind power conversion system in
electricity power system laboratory, could not be developed by students and teaching staff. It is because of unavailability
of wind turbine simulator equipment, so that students and teaching staff are unable to practice and test. Consequently,
when students were participating in national level windmill competition in 2013 and 2014 arranged by Dirjen Dikti,
Team Al-Jazari PNUP could not fully compete to win the competition, and teaching staff are still unable to apply
electricity generator using wind turbine in society that needs electricity. As for the development of new and renewable
energy particularly the development of wind power conversion system, then the method applied in this research is
experiment and design production of wind turbine simulator, production of wind turbine simulator type horizontal and
vertical porous, data analysis of test result and measurement using data logger which able to show voltage curve,
current, electricity power, wind turbine rotation velocity and wind velocity on Computer PC and LCD with the help of
Microcontroller. With wind turbine simulator and modification of wind turbine’s blade type horizontal porous with
variation of blade number in turbine that is, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 blades and modification of wind turbine’s blade type
vertical porous with number of blade curve is 2. And variation of wind velocity blew from artificial fan (blower)
approximately between 4 m/s, 5 m/s, 7 m/s, 9m/s and 10 m/s. The result of this research is to discover simulator and
shape of wind turbine type horizontal or vertical porous based on Computer PC and LCD monitoring which operate
efficiently in low wind velocity (4-10 m/s), to show characteristic curve of wind turbine with and without load using
Computer PC and LCD, and as a guidance for new and renewable energy praxis particularly wind turbine as learning
medium in electricity generator and distribution laboratory.
