Author Guideline

The Journal of Applied Civil Engineering and Environment (JACEE) welcomes submissions from researchers, academics, and practitioners in the field of civil engineering and environmental studies. To ensure a smooth submission process and adherence to ethical standards, authors are requested to follow these guidelines.

  1. Manuscript Submission
  • Originality: Manuscripts submitted to JACEE must be original works that have not been previously published or are under consideration for publication elsewhere. Submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals concurrently is considered unethical and will result in rejection.
  • Language: All submissions must be written in clear, concise, and grammatically correct English or Indonesian. Authors may use British or American English, but consistency must be maintained throughout the manuscript.
  • Format: Manuscripts should be prepared in accordance with the journal’s formatting guidelines, which include specific instructions on structure, citation style, and references. Please refer to the Submission Guidelines (manuscript template) for detailed instructions.
  1. Authorship and Contributions
  • Criteria for Authorship: Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the research study. All those who meet these criteria should be listed as co-authors. Contributors who do not meet the criteria for authorship should be acknowledged appropriately in the manuscript.
  • Corresponding Author: The corresponding author is responsible for the submission process, communication with the journal, and ensuring that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript before submission.
  • Acknowledgment of Funding and Contributions: Authors must acknowledge all sources of financial support and any other contributions to the research project. This includes identifying individuals, organizations, or institutions that provided assistance but did not qualify for authorship.
  1. Ethical Considerations
  • Plagiarism: JACEE employs plagiarism detection software to screen submitted manuscripts. Authors are expected to ensure that their work is free from plagiarism, including self-plagiarism. Proper citation of sources and originality in writing are essential.
  • Data Fabrication and Falsification: Fabrication or falsification of data, including the manipulation of images, figures, or tables to misrepresent results, is considered a serious ethical violation. Manuscripts found to contain fabricated or falsified data will be rejected, and appropriate actions will be taken.
  • Human and Animal Rights: For research involving human participants or animals, authors must provide a statement confirming that all procedures were performed in compliance with relevant laws, institutional guidelines, and ethical standards. Evidence of approval by an appropriate ethics committee should be included.
  • Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could be viewed as potential conflicts of interest. All potential conflicts of interest must be stated in the manuscript.
  1. Publication Process
  • Peer Review: All submitted manuscripts undergo a rigorous peer review process. Authors should be prepared to make revisions based on the feedback from reviewers. The editorial board’s decision on the manuscript is final.
  • Corrections and Retractions: If significant errors or inaccuracies are identified in a published paper, the authors are obliged to cooperate with the editor to correct the record. In cases of serious ethical violations, retractions may be issued.
  • Copyright and Licensing: Upon acceptance of the manuscript, authors will be required to sign a copyright transfer agreement, granting JACEE the rights to publish the work. Authors retain certain rights, including the ability to share and use their work in specific circumstances, in accordance with the journal’s licensing terms.
  1. Submission Procedure
  • Online Submission: Manuscripts should be submitted through the journal’s online submission system at JACEE Submission. Authors will need to create an account and follow the step-by-step submission process.
  • Review Process Timeline: The journal aims to provide a first decision on submitted manuscripts within 8-12 weeks. Authors will be notified of the editorial decision via email.
  • Resubmission of Revised Manuscripts: If revisions are requested, authors should submit their revised manuscripts through the online system within the timeframe specified by the editor.
